Puri: As Shree Jagannatha Temple Administrator (SJTA), earlier decided to open West Gate (Paschima Dwara) for the devotees, Puri town on Friday saw Jagannath lovers thronging the shrine.
After a high-level meeting of the Srimandir management committee chaired by Puri Gajapati King Dibyasingha Deb on April 22, the SJTA allowed devotees to enter separate entry to the temple.
With the opening of one more gate of Srimandir, the devotees are unlikely to face stamped-like situation during auspicious occasions at the shrine in pilgrim town Puri.
All the devotees will now be allowed to get entry into the temple through the West Gate apart from the Lion’s Gate (Singha Dwara). The devotees will exit through Hastidwara in the north and Ashwadwara in the south, an SJTA official said.
The devotees can enter the Jagannath temple through Paschim Dwara (West Gate). However, they will have to follow the COVID-19 protocols mandatory for every visitor to the temple, the official added.
