Devotees Miss Out On “Radha Pada Darshan”
Puri: The Puri district administration has imposed a ban on Radha Pada darshan at Gopinath temple in Sakhigopal this year due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The district administration clamped prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC around the temple on Sunday.
While Section 144 has been clamped within a 200-metre radius of the temple, the administration has restricted the movement of the devotees from the Chandan Pokhari to the Siddha Bakula.
Radha Pada Darshan is believed to lead to moksha or salvation. Radharani’s lotus feet are kept covered throughout the year, but on Anla Navami, one can get a sacred darshan as she wears her clothes in typical Odiyani fashion with a Kachha on. This Kachha is called Kania Kachha.
The ritual is conducted on Amla Navami ahead of 5-day Panchuka on holy month Kartik.
