Puri: Devotees were allowed to enter Puri Jagannath Temple today without double vaccination certificates or RTPCR COVID-negative report.

Keeping in view the declining trend of COVID-19 infections across the country, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided that from February 21 devotees will not be required to carry a double-dose vaccination certificate to enter the 12th shrine.

“As most people have received the double dose of Covid vaccine, the Chhatisa Nijog decided to do away with the final vaccination certificate norm for the devotees. However, mask-wearing is mandatory for devotees visiting the temple,” an official said.

Earlier, those who had received two doses of the COVID vaccine or tested negative for the virus were allowed to enter the temple on the production of the certificate.

Darshan of the deities will be allowed from 6 am to 9 pm on all days, except Sunday when the temple will remain closed for the public for sanitisation in view of the COVID-19 situation.

COVID-19 protocols will be imposed on the temple premises as devotees are required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing at all times while being present inside the temple.
