Dera chief moves Punjab and Haryana HC challenging rape conviction


Panchkula: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Singh today moved Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) challenging his conviction in rape case, said his counsel.

A special CBI court in Panchkula had sentenced Gurmeet Singh to 20-year imprisonment in the rape case.

A CBI court is also hearing the cases of murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and Singh’s former manager Ranjit Singh.

Honeypreet, a confidant of Gurmeet Singh and Aditya Insan, a key Dera functionary, remain elusive. Honeypreet was booked in connection with the violence following the conviction of Singh on August 25. A lookout notice had already been issued against her and Aditya Insan.
