Bhubaneswar: This year, the number of dengue patients in the state has increased by 2 times compared to the previous year, while the number is higher in Khurda. As of Thursday, 27th June, 288 dengue-positive patients have been diagnosed in the state, while 80 patients have been diagnosed in Khurda only.
According to information from reliable sources, as of 27th June, the number of dengue patients in the state capital Bhubaneswar was 37, while the number is now near 40.
If testing increases, the number of patients will also increase, the health expert said. Currently, testing is being done at 5 places in Bhubaneswar, while the data of only 3 places is available with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Therefore, the data of every patient cannot be obtained daily.
On the other hand, most of the patients who are getting tested at BMC-run facilities are not traceable. The BMC team are having a tough ordeal to trace the patients due to wrong phone number or address during testing, informed a senior official of the health department.
