Demand for HC Bench: Lawyers observes 12-hour bandh in four districts

Bolangir: Lawyers have called for a 12-hour bandh today in four districts of Western Odisha demanding establishment of permanent High Court bench in undivided Koraput district.

The members under the aegis of Joint Working Committee have called for the bandh in Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts to press for their demands.

Markets, business establishments, educational institutions and government offices have remained closed while the vehicular movement has also been hit due to the bandh. However, emergency services including railways have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.

Meanwhile, several associations have extended their support to the bandh.

Despite repeated pleas for setting up a permanent bench of the state’s apex judiciary body in the undivided Koraput the government has failed to take their demands into consideration. Following this, the members have called for the bandh.
