Delhi cops didn’t respond to emergency calls during violence: Report

New Delhi: Distress calls to 100 went unanswered for 48-72 hours, according to a fact-finding report by a civil rights group.

The report is based on eyewitness accounts from riot-hit northeast Delhi. It is entitled ‘Let Us Heal Our Dilli’. Residents of the affected areas have said that they did not receive any help from the cops during emergencies.

They are also upset with the Delhi government for not standing with the victims and the Centre for not deploying the security forces on time.

The team visited Bhajanpura, Chand Bagh, Gokulpuri, Chaman Park, Shiv Vihar, Main Mustafabad, including Bhagirathi Vihar and Brijpuri.

The people are also angry with the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government for not being there on the ground to stand with the victims and members of the vulnerable communities.

The Delhi Police have registered a total of 148 FIRs and 630 people were either arrested or detained in connection with communal violence.
