Dantewada: The death toll in the Naxal ambush in Dantewada of Chhattisgarh increased to four after police Jawan Rakesh Kaushal who was injured in the attack succumbed to injuries on Wednesday.
Yesterday a Doordarshan cameraperson and two jawans were killed after Naxals attacked the crew members of state-run Doordarshan TV network in Aranpur in Dantewada in Chhattisgarh.
The cameraperson, Achyutananda Sahoo, hailed from Loisingha in Odisha’s Bolangir district. Two jawans who were martyred in the attack were identified as Rudra Pratap and Manglu. Besides, Rakesh Gautam and another jawan, Bishnu Netam, were injured in the attack.
According to sources, a team of Doordarshan news channel had gone to Dantewada election news coverage when they were attacked by the Maoists.
The attack comes just days ahead of assembly elections in the state which goes to polls in two phases – on November 12 and 20, 2018.
Last week, four CRPF personnel were killed and two more injured after Maoists used a powerful IED to target a bulletproof mobile bunker vehicle in Bijapur district.
