Dacoity bid foiled in Jatni, two held

Bhubaneswar: Jatni Police foiled a dacoity bid and arrested two members of a gang while they were hatching a loot plan near Gangapada Old Gate late on Saturday.

The arrested have been identified as Rinku Pradhan of Pitapalli village and Rakesh Kumar Sahoo of Gangapada village under Jatni police limits. However, three other members of the gang managed to flee the spot, police said.

Acting on reliable inputs, a night patrolling party led by ASI SK Behura conducted a raid while they were planning for dacoity at an abandoned house and managed to nab two members of the gang.

A country-made revolver (sixers gun), four live bullets, two live hand bombs, two polythene full of gun powder, jute thread bundles, stone chips, and a knife were seized from the arrested duo’s possession, police said.

Jatni Police has registered a case (17/19) under Sections 399 & 402 of the IPC, Section 25 of the Arms Act and Sections 4 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act.
