New Delhi: Police have registered an FIR against gynaecologist Anahita Pandole in connection with the tragic car accident that killed former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry in September this year
According to a report by agency ANI, a case has been booked against Pandole under charges of causing death due to rash and negligent driving under the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act, based on the final report by Mercedes Benz on their analysis of the car’s data chip and after recording the statement of her husband and co-passenger Darius Pandole.
Police had recorded the statement of Darius Pandole four days after he was discharged from the hospital and declared fit for the process, however, Anahita is still undergoing treatment in the ICU.
According to reports, Darius Pandole, in his statement to police, said that his wife, Dr Anahita Pandole, who was driving the car while he sat in the front passenger seat, was trying to move past a heavy vehicle by overtaking it when the three-lane highway suddenly became a two-lane one. Confused by the abrupt change and in order to avoid causing an accident, Anahita rammed into the wall of the bridge over the Surya river, a senior police officer said.
Anahita Pandole, her husband Darius and Cyrus Mistry were travelling from Gujarat to Mumbai when their Mercedez Benz, driven by the doctor, crashed into a concrete barrier on September 4 this year. Mistry and his friend and Darius’ brother Jahangir Pandole died in the accident.
