While the entire nation is reeling under the lack of medical oxygen, a 26-year-old woman from Uttarakhand, Arshi, has embarked on a mission to provide oxygen cylinders to needy COVID-19 patients.
Arshi, a resident of Madaar Khel locality in Shahjahanpur, has so far distributed around 20 oxygen cylinders for free in her scooter with the help of her two brothers and some other associates.
A few days ago, Arshi’s father, who was on home isolation, turned critical due to COVID-19 infection and his oxygen level dropped on the day of Ramzan. When Arshi set out to procure the life-saving gas, she had to run from pillar to post to just arrange one of it.
Though she managed to get an oxygen cylinder from the office of the city magistrate, and later from a social organisation, that she came in contact through WhatsApp. Following this, her father recovered.
Arshi came to realize the trauma of COVID patients’ families needing oxygen cylinders. Since then, she has been providing oxygen cylinders to the needy free of charge.
The self-less actions of Arshi, at the time of this COVID crisis, earned her praise from all walks of life. She has also earned an unofficial title “Cylinder Waali Bitiya”.
