Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced an immediate relief package of Rs 500 crore to Odisha after Cyclone Yaas badly hit the state on Wednesday.
He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured ones in the cyclone.
Following the enormous devastation caused by Cyclone Yaas on 26th May, the Prime Minister arrived in the State capital, Bhubaneswar today and later took an aerial survey of the affected areas.
After the two-hour survey in an Indian Air Force chopper, the Prime Minister announced the package.
The Prime Minister then reached West Bengal and held a meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Yaas.
