Cyclone Yaas: Odisha Cancels Holidays, Leaves Of All Govt Employees

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has cancelled holidays and leaves of all its employees with immediate effect in view of Cyclone Yaas.

The order in this regard was issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department today.

According to the order, “All Government holidays are cancelled till May 31. All Government officials are required to stay in respective headquarters and in no case, shall be permitted to leave headquarters without permission of the authority. Leaves availed by all Government employees are cancelled and those on leave are required to join duty forthwith.”

“In order to expedite pre-cyclonic arrangements and ensure post cyclonic rescue/relief operations in the vulnerable districts and facilitate provision of human resource, material and logistics support to the affected districts, it is imperative that all the state Government offices and officials remain in a state of readiness,” read the order.

A low pressure area has been formed over east-central Bay of Bengal on 22nd May2021, which is likely to intensify into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm by 24th May, 2021 and reach West Bengal & north Odisha around evening of 26th May, 2021. This cyclonic storm is likely to severely affect the coastal as well as the adjoining Districts, according to IMD.
