Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal is most likely to make landfall between Tinkona Island and Sandwip in Bangladesh, leaving minimum impact on the State of Odisha.

It will hit the Bangladesh coast on October 25. Under its influence, moderate rainfall activities will be observed in coastal parts of Odisha. The cyclone may not have any major impact on the State, IMD sources said.

The system over eastcentral Bay of Bengal is currently about 370 km northwest of Port Blair. It will intensify into a cyclonic storm over central Bay of Bengal by October 24 morning and cross Bangladesh coast between Tinkona Island and Sandwip in the next day, the IMD tweeted.

Earlier, the IMD had predicted that the cyclone would reach near West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts on Tuesday after skirting Odisha coast. However, it will move parallel off the Odisha coast.

The weather models also show that the system’s cone of uncertainty will brush the State’s coast which means there will be little or no threat from the system to the mainland.
