Cuttack: In a significant development, Cuttack railway station is undergoing a major transformation to enhance services and infrastructure, aiming to provide an airport-like experience for passengers. For the first time in the state, the railway station will be directly connected to a national highway, significantly improving travel convenience.
The new third gate on the Sikharpur side will seamlessly connect with the national highway, facilitating easy bus connectivity for passengers traveling to distant locations. This development is expected to greatly benefit commuters, offering them a more efficient and comfortable travel experience.
The upgraded station will feature modern amenities such as air-conditioned waiting areas, plush seating, and advanced sanitation facilities. Additionally, the station will incorporate Odia art and cultural motifs, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for travelers.
The project, which began in 2021, is set to be inaugurated by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The new entrance will include four ticket counters for general passengers and an additional counter for those with physical disabilities. Modern lifts and escalators will ensure ease of movement, while comprehensive LED displays will provide clear and up-to-date train information.
Enhanced security measures, including CCTV surveillance, will be implemented to ensure passenger safety. The station will also enforce fines for breaches in cleanliness and other violations to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
This transformation marks a new era for Cuttack railway station, positioning it as a key transportation hub with world-class facilities and improved connectivity.
