Cuttack: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 9-year-old boy was allegedly branded with hot iron and subjected to physical torture by his paternal uncle and aunt for mischievous activities at CDA area in the city.
The matter came to fore after grandparents (maternal) of the boy, Baijayanti Rout, Madanmohan lodged a complaint at Markat Nagar police station in Cuttack.
According to complaint, the boy had earlier been taken care of by his grandparents (maternal) in Dhenkanal after his mother died during childhood. However, his uncle and aunt belonging to CDA area of Cuttack had taken him back from the grandparents and kept him with them.
The minor boy had recently visited his grandparent’s house in Dhenkanal to spend Puja vacation. He narrated his ordeal before the grandparents during his short-stay.
He alleged that uncle and aunt brand him with hot iron, kick him out, slap him with sandal, thrash him with belt and strangulate him over trivial issues. He further alleged that his uncle threatened him of dire consequence if he reveals the matter to anyone.
Later, the grandparents took the matter to the police who registered a case under section 506,323,324,341 of IPC and section 23 of Juvenile act and launched investigation after examining his body bearing multiple branding and injury marks.
Police said that the victim will be produced before the CWC for proper care and counseling.
