Cuttack: 3 Held For Looting Passengers After Sedating Them

Cuttack: Police have busted a looters’ gang and arrested three persons for allegedly sedating and looting passengers by offering chocolates in Cuttack city.

The accused persons have been identified as Santosh Kumar Nandi (31), Pradeep Mishra (45), and Sushant Kumar Jena (28).

Reportedly, the matter came to fore when one Namita had gone to Cuttack for some work. However, her bag and phone were stolen while she was commuting through a bus.

Following this, she lodged a complaint after two days at Badambadi police station.

On the basis of FIR, police registered a case (276/20) under relevant sections of IPC and initiated an investigation. After multiple raids, police managed to nab the accused persons.

The cops also seized 14 stolen mobile phones, one airbag, Rs 740, and 74 drug tablets from their possession.

Following initial interrogation, it was known that the accused used to target the solo passengers on the bus and auto-rickshaw. Later, they would initiate a conversation with them before making them eat chocolates laced with sedative drugs and eventually rob them, police said.
