CRPF troopers recover two landmines in Gajapati
Gajapati: CRPF personnel recovered two landmines planted under a culvert at Andhari Ghat under Adaba police limits in Gajapati district yesterday.
According to sources, the CRPF jawans, who were conducting a search operation in the area, recovered the 50 Kg-landmines under a culvert at Andhari Ghat. On intimation, a bomb squad from Gajapati rushed to the spot and diffused the bombs.
Security personnel suspected that the bombs were placed in order to disrupt the ensuing election in the poll-bound area.
It is pertinent to mention here that a high alert has been issued in the Maoist-infested areas of the state following the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh yesterday. BJP MLA Bhima Mandavi, his driver and three personal security officers were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Kuakonda area in Dantewada district.
