Kendrapara: India’s only captive crocodile Gori in Bhitarkanika National Park of Kendrapara district was found not taking food for the last two weeks.

Instead of intaking 5 to 6 kgs of fish and crab in a day, the white crocodile is now having only one and a half kilo of food in a period 2 to 3 days. This has raised concern among the forest department officials.

After her birth in 1975, the forest officials had kept the reptile in a small pond and later shifted to a bigger pond inside the Dangamal Crocodile Research Centre in Bhitarkanika National Park.

Gori was the mascot of Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010 and later the reptile was chosen as the mascot of National Youth Festival hosted on Bhubaneswar in 2010.
