New Delhi: In the year 2018 crime rose alarmingly with 80 murders, 289 kidnappings and 91 rapes per day, according to an NCRB data.
According to the ‘Crime in India Report 2018’ by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), crimes in the country increased by 1.8 per cent in that year as compared to 2017.
The report said, in 2018, a total of 50.74 lakh crimes were reported across the country. Out of these, 31.32 lakh were registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 19.41 under the Special Local Laws (SLL).
The NCRB report further stated that a total of 1.05 lakh cases of kidnapping and abduction were reported across India in 2018. This is an increase of 10 per cent from 95,893 in 2017.
The number of murder cases reported across India that year also witnessed an increase of 1.3 per cent in 2018 when 29,017 cases of murder were lodged with the police.
