Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch will investigate the seizure of Rs 10.90 crore from a car in Chhattisgarh, which was en route to Agra from Cuttack, informed Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma today.
“The EOW has been directed to probe the case at the local level and we are also cooperating with the Chhattisgarh Police in this regard,” the DGP said adding that efforts are on to trace the source, who gave the money to the four persons held during the seizure.
Notably, four persons of Uttar Pradesh were detained for questioning after Rs 10.90 crore was seized from their car in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district yesterday. The car was intercepted during a routine vehicle checking and the cash was found under the rear seat.
The four accused persons have been identified as Banwari (40), Prahlad (30), Mohammed Ibrahim (45) and his wife Nazma (35), all residents of Agra.
