Covid vaccine Oxford-AstraZeneca submitted for UK’s nod
London: The Oxford-AstraZeneca have applied to UK health agency for permission to roll out their Covid-19 vaccine, Health Minister Matt Hancock said.
Hancock said he was delighted to inform that the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine developed here has submitted its full data package to the MHRA for approval.
The UK health minister said this is the next step towards a decision on the deployment of the vaccine and added that Britain would impose travel curbs on South Africa to halt the spread of another wave of new and more transmissible strain of the dreaded disease.
Worthwhile to mention here that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was the first Covid shot to be authorised for use by UK.
The Minister said the bulk of UK’s vaccine requirements are expected to be met by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford. The British government has ordered 100 million doses of the vaccine.
