Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 caseload in Odisha climbed to 3,24,796 on Wednesday after 407 people tested positive for the deadly virus, while five more fatalities in the last 24 hours pushed the death toll to 1,820.
Of the fresh cases detected from 27 districts of the State, 236 were reported from different quarantine centres and the remaining 171 are local contact cases.
Angul district recorded the highest of 60 new infections followed by Khurda (46), Cuttack (25), and Mayurbhanj (24), as per the data revealed by Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
In terms of fatalities, Angul, Balasore, Bolangir, Cuttack and Sundargarh reported one death each, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
The H&FW department also released the details of the deceased who died while undergoing treatment at various hospitals across Odisha:
1.A 57-year-old female of Angul district.
2.A 65-year-old male of Balasore district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
3.A 44-year-old male of Bolangir district.
4.A 72-year-old male of Cuttack district.
5.A 65-year-old male of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Hypertension.
