Bhubaneswar: Taking cognisance of the fact that around 60% of people affected by COVID-19 in the state are in the age group of 15 to 40 years, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha has launched a mobile application “COVID SANGRAMEE 20-20 CHALLENGE”, on the International Youth Day today
Recognising the key role of youth in the fight against COVID, the mobile application was developed in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and is aimed at reaching this age group with correct information and messages on COVID 19.
This should help in promoting positive action and behaviours, especially among the youth thereby limiting the spread of COVID and also preventing associated stigma and discrimination.
The mobile application is bilingual, available in English and Odia and is based on self-learning model and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store from the _ link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details ?id=com.youngchallengesrenamed.app or from the search option “COVID SANGRAMEE 20-20 CHALLENGE” from Google Play Store
The app will provide scientific and correct information on Covid-19, dispel myths, prevent stigma and discrimination, and support the government’s response by promoting positive behaviors. Presentations, briefs, videos, and guidelines covering basics of COVID-19, transmission, prevention, personal safety, the importance of quarantine, stigma, discrimination, do’s & don’ts and myths and facts are part of the application.
Under the section “Check Your Knowledge” participants can take up a simple quiz to assess their understanding around COVID-19. At the end of the quiz, the person gets a certificate of participation on answering correctly at least 50% of the multiple-choice questions.
