COVID dry run : Harsh Vardhan advises people not to pay heed to rumours

New Delhi: The nation is all set for the mock drill and dry run for coronavirus vaccination in all the States and UT governments on Saturday.

The Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan  has visited GTB Hospital to review the dry run exercise for smooth administration of  COVID-19 vaccination programme.

The Union Health Ministry said the objective of the dry run for coronavirus vaccine introduction is to assess operational feasibility in the use of COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) application in a field environment.

It will test the linkages between planning and implementation and to identify the challenges and guide on the way for actual implementation of the massive programme.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister KK Shailaja said everything went smoothly in Kerala. The Health Minister has reviewed dry run for COVID-19 administration at Government Hospital, Peroorkada in Thiruvananthapuram.

Dr Harsh Vardhan has appealed to people not to pay heed to rumours and added that ensuring the safety and efficacy of the vaccine is the top priority of the government.

He said different kinds of rumours were spread during polio immunisation but people took the vaccine and India is now polio-free.
