COVID-19 Vaccine Shortage Halts Inoculation Drive In 5 Odisha Dist

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has planned COVID-19 vaccination sessions at 393 sites on Friday excluding five districts as the state is facing an acute shortage of Covishield vaccine.

According to reports, there will be no vaccination sessions in the districts of  Boudh, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Sambalpur, and Sonepur.

Sources said that the availability of vaccines in the State till 8 PM on April 29 is, Covishield- 1,06,660 and Covaxin- 3,34,500 doses.

While the vaccines required for beneficiaries due for the second dose is 6.3 lakh doses, only 1.1 lakh doses are available, as a result, the inoculation drive for second dose to the 45+ age group is halted. The authorities could not schedule sessions in advance due to vaccine stock shortage.
