COVID-19 tally in India crosses 74-lakh mark

New Delhi: The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India increased to 74,32,681 with a single jump of 62,212 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said.

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 1,12,998.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India stand at 7,95,087. As many as 65,24,595 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far, the Union Health Ministry has said in its latest update.

COVID-19 tally of 5 worst-affected states:

> Maharashtra – 15,76,062 cases

> Andhra Pradesh – 7,75,470 cases

> Karnataka – 7,51,390 cases

> Tamil Nadu – 6,79,191 cases

> Uttar Pradesh – 4,49,935 cases

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 9,32,54,017 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to October 16 with 9,99,090 samples being tested on Friday.
