COVID-19 scare: Villagers in Karnataka block outsiders’ entry by putting logs on roads

Shivamogga, Karnataka: Residents of several villages in Karnataka have blocked roads to restrict outsiders amid rising cases of coronavirus in the state.

A total of 64 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Karnataka. Three persons have died and five discharged.

Reports said the residents of villages in Sagara Taluk have decided to put logs of wood in the middle of the streets leading up to the village in an effort to prevent outsiders from entering their area.

The chief minister called a cabinet meeting and asked district in-charge Ministers to take responsibility for their respective districts with regards to measures that needs to be taken to limit the fast-spreading COVID-19.

The chief minister also appealed to the media for its support in fighting coronavirus and not create fear in people’s minds about the disease.
