COVID-19 scare: Friday prayers suspended in mosques across country


New Delhi: All Muslim sects have decided to suspend Friday prayers in mosques in the wake of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.

They were urged to conduct the ‘Zohar’ prayer at home. The calls for prayers will continue to be made from mosques at the set hours.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board had urged Muslims to conduct ‘Zohar’ prayers at home. The religious leaders of the Shia sect have also decided to suspend the Friday prayers across the country.

As per the orders issued by the State Wakf Board on Thursday, all mosques in Hyderabad and 33 other districts have been asked to ensure that no more than five persons assemble for prayers.
