Puri: As COVID-19 tightens its grip on several districts across the state, the authorities here on Sunday imposed a ban on cremation of bodies at Swargadwar by people from outside Puri.
As per official orders, restriction on observance of the last funeral rites of the deceased belonging to other districts/states at Swargadwar Puri as well as immersion of ashes at Mahodadhi will not be allowed from tomorrow, informed Puri SP Samarth Verma today.
Asthi Visarjan and other funeral related rituals will not be allowed near the sea here. Bodies of COVID-19 patients in Puri district will be cremated at Mangalanadi ghat, the official added.
