COVID-19: India Reports 36,604 New Infections, Caseload Nears 95 Lakh

New Delhi: India recorded 36,604 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed on Wednesday.

The total tally mounted to 94.9 lakh, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 AM on December 2. That includes over 89 lakh recoveries and more than 1.38 lakh deaths. With 501 new deaths, toll reached 1,38,122.

Five states are reporting increase in active cases in the country, showed data from the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

The top five states showing a rise are Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan.

On the other hand, the five top states that have registered a decline are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal.

The country has performed at least 140 million Covid-19 tests, with a cumulative positivity rate of 6.69%, and average daily positivity rate of 3.72% during the past week.
