COVID-19 cases in India rise to 6.7 lakh; death toll at 19,268


New Delhi: India on Sunday reports the highest single-day spike of 24,850 new COVID-19 cases and 613 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in India have risen to 6,73,165, according to the latest update from the Union Health Ministry. This number includes cases involving foreign nationals, patients who have recovered and the death toll.

The death toll in India due to the novel coronavirus pandemic has risen to 19,268.

The reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 2,44,814, according to the Union Health Ministry.

As many as 4,09,082 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 97,89,066 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till yesterday (July 4). Of these, 2,48,934 were tested yesterday.
