COVID-19 cases in India cross 2.26 lakh mark, deaths at 6348

New Delhi: India registered its single-day biggest spike in cases and deaths due to the novel coronavirus on Thursday. Over the last 24 hours, 9,304 cases and 260 deaths were recorded.

In India, over 2.1 lakh cases have been reported and the death toll has crossed 6,000.

The number of coronavirus cases in India has marked significant and consecutive highest jumps over a major part of the last two weeks.

In India, a total of 2,26,770 cases have been reported, which includes 6,348 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry’s latest update.

Out of these, 1,10,960 are active cases while 1,09,461 have recovered.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat are the worst-affected states.

A data consolidated by the chief labour commission of India revealed that 46% of the country’s migrant workers have returned back home or are on their way.

Globally, over 66.3 lakh infections and nearly 4 lakh deaths have been reported during the COVID-19 outbreak.
