COVID-19 affects all 30 dists of Odisha as Rayagada reports maiden case


Bhubaneswar/Rayagada: Global pandemic– COVID-19 has affected all the 30 districts of Odisha as Rayagada reported its maiden coronavirus positive case on Wednesday.

In the 19th phase, a total of 178 samples were sent to RMRC Bhubaneswar for RT-PCR testing on May 30th, 2020. Out of this, only one sample was tested COVID-19 positive and the rest 177 samples tested negative of coronavirus, informed Chief District Medical Officer, Dr. Artabandhu Nayak.

A total of 1952 samples have been tested for COVID-19 from Rayagada district so far. One positive case has been found while the rest 1951 have tested negative for coronavirus, the Rayagada CDMO further stated.

The cumulative total of COVID-19 positive cases in Odisha till Wednesday afternoon was 2,388. A total of 1,416 persons have recovered/cured from the disease while seven persons have lost their lives due to the deadly disease.

According to the data from the Health Department website, currently, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Odisha is 963. A 72-year-old man from Balasore district and one 42-year-old male of Khurda have died due to reasons other than COVID.
