Bolangir: A couple were killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Patrapali square under Muribahal police station in Bolangir district on Wednesday.
The deceased have been identified as Gambhir Rana and his wife Gita Rana. Both Gambhir and Gita were on their way to their farmland when they met the tragic accident. The accident was so severe that a cow was also killed on the spot.
In protest, irate locals staged a road blockade along Raipur-Gopalpur NH-59 demanding the seizure of the vehicle and compensation to the family members of the deceased.
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the protest. Till the last report came in, Muribahal police and the local Tehsildar had reached the spot to pacify the protesting people.
