Banki: A team of excise officials today arrested two persons and seized over 26 litres of illicit country-made liquor from different places in Banki.
The accused have been identified as Jhuna Barik and Bishwanath Swain.
Following the raid, at least 14 lt of illicit liquor was seized from Jhuna Barik at Damapada block, while 12 lt of the illegal consignment was recovered from Bishwanath Swain at Gopalpur area.
The drives will continue against liquor mafias, excise officials informed.
Cases (No. 102 & 103/2021) have been registered under relevant sections of IPC and the accused were forwarded to court sources said.
Reportedly, it is being claimed that the liquor mafias have been providing several bootleggers with the illegal consignment of liquor from Athgarh through different areas including Banki, sources said.
