Coronavirus Outbreak: Three-week Lockdown Begins In India

New Delhi: Over 1.3 billion people will go under “total lockdown” from today for three weeks as India looks to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Asserting that social distancing is the only way out for the country in its decisive battle against the coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday announced 21-day nationwide lockdown, along with Rs 15,000 crore for PPE, ICU, ventilators and testing facilities.

Nearly 400,000 people have tested positive for the virus worldwide, and around 17,000 have died.
