Coronavirus in India: Biggest one-day hike of 6,088 cases, tally rises to 118,447


New Delhi: India has recorded its biggest spike of over 6,000 coronavirus positive cases in a single day. With a steep rise in cases, India’s total infected cases have reached 118,447.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country has 66,330 active cases and the death toll due to the deadly contagious virus has reached 3,583.

As many as 48,533 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far, the Union Health Ministry has said in its latest update.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases.

Globally, 5,194,210 people have been infected by coronavirus so far, and the total number of deaths from the disease now stands at 334,621, according to Worldometer. The United States, Russia, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Spain are the most-affected countries.
