Cops Recover Rs1.29 Lakh Lost In Online Fraud

Malkangiri: Malkangiri police have managed to retrieve money lost by a Border Security Force (BSF) Jawan through online fraud.

Reportedly, a BSF personnel, who were deployed at MV 79 village to suppress the Maoist activities in the area, fell into the trap of online fraud and lost Rs 1,29,900.

According to reports, the victim BSF Jawan downloaded this duplicate YONO app (You Only Need One) launched by the fraudsters.

Thereafter, the online scammer sent a message to him and asked for an One Time Password (OTP) following which he gave the number thinking that the caller is an employee of SBI. Soon after the OTP was given, the BSF Jawan lost the huge amount of Rs 1,29,900 from his bank account.

Following which he lodged a complaint with the cyber cell.

Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and launched a probe. After pertinent efforts, the cops managed to recover the cash from the fraudsters and returned it to the victim.
