Cops nab conman for swindling Rs 60L

Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police have arrested a conman who swindled Rs 60 lakh from a person for getting admission into a medical college in Bengaluru.

The accused was identified as Debashish Mukherjee belonging to Balasore district. Police nabbed him from the rented house at LIC colony in Chandrasekharpur here. Police sources said Debashish was leading a royal life after hoodwinking people in similar manner.

Police said the prey of the conman was Ashish Patnaik who lives in Delta colony Satabdi Nagar. Debashish had cheated the money from Ashish in three installments. After taking all money from Ashish, the accused gave him subterfuges on several occasions. He even did not answer his telephone calls.

Nirajan Ojha, OIC, Khandagiri police station said Debashish was interrogated at the police station after getting complaint from Ashish on the matter.
