Cops foil petrol pump loot bid, nab four criminals


Choudwar: Choudwar police on Thursday night arrested four persons and foiled a potential robbery bid at a city petrol pump.

The police seized a country-made revolver, three bullets, two cellphones, one dagger, one hatchet and a two-wheeler from their possession.

The accused were identified as Sudam Nayak(26) alias Pintu of Mangarajpur Majhisahi, Prakash Kumar Nayak (19) alias of Mantuni Brahmanasahi and Susanta Pradhan(23) alias Kalia of Sankarpur Majhisahi in Choudwar police limits and Bimal Kumar Behera(32) of Khardasahi under Jagatpur police limits. Another member of the gang managed to escape.

According to sources, sub-inspector Ranjit Kumar Seth and other staff were conducting patrolling on Thursday evening when they received reliable information that some persons assembled with deadly weapons at an isolated place of Gopabandhu Ground in OTM Colony and were planning a major dacoity. Acting on the tipoff, the police team conducted a raid at Gopabandhu Ground and nabbed four persons while another criminal managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.

During interrogation, they admitted that they were planning to loot Kargil Filing Station in Choudwar area.
