Congress workers attack photojournalists in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Photojournalists were attacked by Congress workers in Tamil Nadu for filming empty chairs at party meeting called to explain the party manifesto.

The Congress workers had allegedly thrashed photojournalists and media personnel working for a weekly Tamil magazine.

The video which has gone viral on social media has footages of brutal assault of journalists by Congress workers. They were seen snatching cameras away.

Reports said when other media personnel tried to intervene they were also manhandled.

Tamil Nadu Congress president and party candidate for Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency KS Alagiri was also present at the meeting.

None from the party came forward to stop the workers from attacking the journalists, it is alleged.

Condemning the incident, Chennai press club urged the cops to take action against the attackers.

This was in stark contrast to earlier instances when Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary had attended to journalists who were wounded during road shows.

The Congress chief had helped 5-6 journalists who were injured during his road show. While filing his nomination papers in Wayanad, Rahul and Priyanka helped three journalists who had fainted in the heat.

Social media is abuzz with the footages Priyanka holding shoes of one of the journalists while Rahul was seen helping people carrying the injured on a stretcher to an ambulance.
