New Delhi: Senior party leader Natwar Singh has endorsed Priyanka Gandhi’s name for top post saying Congress will split under non-Gandhi chief.
Singh cautioned that the party will split within 24 hours if a non-Gandhi is elected as its chief.
He further advised that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should not name someone from outside the Gandhi family. This would lead to infighting in the party, the senior Congress leader said.
He lauded Priyanka for her recent visit to Sonbhadra to meet the families of victims killed in a firing incident.
The former external affairs minister said: “You must have witnessed what she did in a village in Uttar Pradesh. It was amazing. She stayed there and achieved what she wanted to”.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the Congress party plunged into political crisis after it faced humiliating debacle in the Lok Sabha elections followed by the resignation of Rahul Gandhi from the post of party chief.
