Bhubaneswar: As fuel prices touched an all-time high in the state, the Congress MLAs have raised the issue of soaring prices of petrol and diesel in assembly on Thursday.
During the zero hours in the state Assembly, the opposition members demanded a reduction in tax by the state government to ease the burden on the consumers.
Congress legislative party leader Narasingha Mishra said the state government should control the price of fuel.
Congress MLA, Santosh Singh Saluja said the price of petrol in Bhubaneswar has touched Rs 107 per litre and diesel has touched Rs 97 per litre.
“The state government is levying 28% VAT on petrol and 24% on diesel. The rising fuel price has impacted the price rise of other essential items, affecting the common people in the state,” said Saluja.
