Bhubaneswar: Satyabrata Patra, who was fielded as Congress candidate for Nimapara Assembly seat, pulled out of the poll fray by refusing to contest ensuing poll.
Patra also resigned as party’s Puri district president.
In a statement, Patra said that the State Congress has become very weak and blamed OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik for the same.
He also cited the delay in allotment of ticket to be another reason behind his decision.
Earlier yesterday, senior Congress leader and party’s Barchana MLA candidate Sitakant Mohapatra returned the party ticket to contest the ensuing poll.
The senior leader returned the ticket citing that he has decided not to contest polls as the party delayed the announcement of his candidature.
