New Delhi: Releasing the manifesto at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said that it is not based on a single lie.
Gandhi said while addressing a gathering during the release of party’s manifesto titled ‘Congress will deliver’ at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters at 24, Akbar Road here.
Gandhi said : “It is a massive step for the Congress party. When we started this process about a year back, I spoke to Chidambaram and Rajiv Gowda and I gave two instructions. The manifesto should not be made in a closed room and reflect the wishes of the people of India”.
The Congress chief stressed that they will be truthful to whatever is written in the manifesto.
Former prime minister Manmohan Singh, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former union minister P Chidambaram and other senior party leaders were present during the event.
Aiming at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Congress chief had earlier said that the party’s manifesto will be a voice of the people of India and not reflect just one man’s view.
The manifesto has focused on creation of jobs, distress of the agrarian communities ,education and health sectors besides economic growth, the Congress chief said.
