Congress launches indefinite strike in Deogarh over NH’s poor condition

Deogarh: Protesting the continuous road woes that trouble commuters travelling through National Highways crossing through Deogarh district,  the district Congress has launched an indefinite strike from today.

This was informed by District Congress President, Umashankar Sahu.

Alleging that the poor construction of new four-lane NH-49 has turned a death trap for commuters, the party members under the leadership of Sahu has staged protest outside the district Collector office.

As per allegations, lack of maintenance of the road is causing problems for commuters. The deteriorated condition of Kolkata-Mumbai NH has scared the commuters to step on the roadway. Several spots along the four-lane National Highway crossing through the district has turned into an accident-prone zone.

While the roadways portray the image of a death trap, the authorities concerned have turned a blind eye to the issue.
