Koraput: The district administration here has declared shutdown in Borrigumma block for five days. The decision was taken after a 58-year-old man tested COVID-19 positive.
The man, a health worker, who had returned from Ganjam tested positive for the deadly virus. After his return, he came in contact with over 100 persons in Borrigumma and its peripheral areas, sources said. Following this, the administration announced the shut down in the region.
A woman teacher, who was also in contact with the man, also tested positive for the deadly virus. Later, after the contact tracing, it was found that some of her students also contracted the disease.
The district has so far reported 73 corona positive cases including nine from Borrigumma.
Meanwhile, the district administration has asked the teachers not to take tuition classes while Koraput collector Madhusudan Mishra has requested the parents not to send their children to the tuition classes.
