Bhubaneswar: The National Road Safety Month was inaugurated by the Police Commissioner of Twin City, Sudhanshu Sarangi, on Monday.
The event was organised by the traffic police department of Madhupatna in Cuttack.
While several programs were conducted to create awareness about road safety and reduce road accidents in the state, Dr. Sarangi awarded rose to commuters wearing double helmets at link road and also gifted helmets to few children during the event.
The function was led by the Inspector, Manoj Bilung, and SI Ranjan Kumar Nayak.
The National Road Safety Week is usually observed from January 11 to 17 every year but this year, the Ministry of Transport and Highways have decided to observe the event as National Road Safety Month from January 18 to February 17. The initiative aims to build awareness about road safety and reduce road accidents in the country.
