Commuters suffer as OSRTC employees launch 3-day strike

Bhubaneswar: Over 600 government buses have stayed off the roads across the state as the employees of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) on Tuesday resorted to a three-day agitation.

The OSRTC employees have launched the agitation to press their four-point charter of demands, including regularization of contractual employees.

Communication in Jeypore of Kendrapara has largely been affected as people in the area widely depend on government buses to reach Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and other important cities in the state.

Nearly 60 buses plying from Badambadi bus stand in Cuttack have remained off road leaving commuters in the lurch.

“We demand same wage for same work and payment of salary as per the 7th Pay Commission. We also demand regularization of contractual employees. If the state government fails to fulfil our genuine demands, we will intensify the strike in the days to come”, a member of All Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Association said.
